How did our garden grow?

Our plant has had a huge growth increase from a tiny baby seed to a full grown plant. While the plant is growing, the cells are growing too. The cells are dividing in which is the result of the plant growing. Our plant grew because sunlight and carbon dioxide went into the plant and also collected water and nutrients. This is called photosynthesis. Also our plant uses cellular respiration. As the plant does this it releases oxygen and water vapor into the atmosphere. Also, it stores energy in form of sugar. Cellular respiration decreases the plant's biomass.

To make these enzymes, the corresponding genes are transcribed into RNA and once they are outside of the nucleus, the portions are built upon the code from the RNA.

          Throughout the cycle of photosynthesis, our plant has grown to a massive size from just a baby seed. The plant is growing bigger and so are the cells. With mitosis the cells divide which result in the plant getting bigger. The next way our plant adds biomass is through photosynthesis. The plant adds biomass by taking in carbon dioxide and water. They use molecules and light to create glucose, which creates organic molecules which adds biomass. As the plant does this it releases oxygen and water vapor into the atmosphere. Also, it stores energy in form of sugar. Plants can also decrease in biomass through the process of cellular respiration.

           To make these enzymes, the corresponding genes are transcribed into RNA. Once they are outside the nucleus, the proteins are built based upon the code in RNA.

how does my plant grow

first my plant gets bigger from all the nutrients it absorbs from the sun and water witch then leads to the procedure of photosynthesis. the cells start dividing and begin making the plant more vulnerable to more cell cycles. the cellular respiration converts the energy to nutrients that the pant needs and starts making the plant become bigger healthier and more of an actual plant then just a seed.

What did you learn?

I learned that germinating seeds with salt makes the seed grow slower than the regular H20 seeds. I also learned that you don't need soil or sunlight to grow seeds because we grew our plants in a plastic bag with a paper towel in it. We also kept it in a dark drawer which was surprising because I always thought that you need sunlight to grow plants. I also learned that it doesn't take a lot of time to grow sprouts from seeds because it only took us around a week for our seeds to sprout. 

Was it amazing 

I thought it was interesting, and surprising because I had never really planted seeds in this way. I had only previously planted plants like flowers, potatoes, and tomatoes before. This was also when I was like 5 years old, so I don't really remember anything from when I was planting. I really enjoyed this experience because it was fun and very eye opening. I also found satisfaction that I created something from scratch, and I've been able to watch it grow from a little.

Nicholas's Seed Story

Throughout the our journey in story of the seed, we have learned a lot of stuff that we would have never known existed. I was very surprised how big our plant has grown since we planted it. This was an interesting process because we got to watch our little seed into a huge plant that is even edible. I'm glad our class got to do this project because I have never done any garden related things. I would definitely do something like this again because this was a great first experience.

About our Project

The purpose of the project was to plant a seed and to take data on how the plant grows every week. My group and I are growing kale and we are going to take pictures every week to make observations as it grows. We are also learning on how to grow and maintain fruits and vegetables. We will also learn about plant life in this project. Lastly, this project will teach us what the plant process is like.

About our project

The purpose of the project(story of the seed)was to observe how the seed would grow into a kale plant and to take data of the plant.over the past few weeks we had to take pictures of the kale plant and take notes.Also to study the life cycle of the kale plant.This project can help us see how plant life works. We will also learn how to take care plants and we will make mistakes which will allow us to not make those mistakes in the future.
